House Warming Party

Apartment 3

Our beautiful little home, I can't believe Eric and I found such a gem in Baraga County! These last two weeks we have been working hard on moving out of his mothers and we our so excited to announce we have our own  space! After moving our things and readjusting to living together again (due to the long distance, my schooling, and his work in our relationship) we came upon or maybe this place landed in our laps. Searching around, plus high expectations to live up because of my newest bourgeoisie lifestyle. I am used to modern studio apartments  and newly renovated dorms of Ann Arbor. Finding a place in the small town of Baraga County that is on the reservation and isn't a house is hard. Living on the reservation would have been ideal and I don't think we are ready for a home and mortgage, so for now changing our Facebook relationship status and dealing with Eric's love for his kitties is enough commitment at the moment! El Torito and Narco (the beloved cats) have not moved in with us yet, but we will have to see. I'm am still a little hesitant #teamdog...

Fresh lighting, white walls, great storage everywhere, space for a studio, and a family outdoor seating area AKA "a porch or a cement slab that is awkwardly placed before our driveway": was all I was asking for! I think I have been watching a little to much HGTV, but we happened to find those qualities and a great price at that. We really wanted a Tree House or a Tiny Home, but Apartment 3 will just have to do!

I turned Apartment 3 into a Michigan fan with a cute little door dec.
When first walking into our apartment you wouldn't guess how gorgeous the inside is, but you can't judge a book by it's cover or a house by it's not so shabby cement-block-door-stoop. The judgement from my cousin's and sister's faces were all the proof I needed, which may have been more likely been caused from the close relation to Eric's mothers house (which is in the back yard of our place). I honestly don't mind the close location, I mean who doesn't appreciate a mother's cooking and basement washer/dyer and all we have to do is walk next door.

Moving into a new place calls for a house warming party. Plus, I will turn any occasion into a party! The VMA's are showing lets throw a PJ party, it's the end of summer lets have a Swimmers Itch party! Just kidding! However, seeing the family together will always be my favorite time. I was raised in a full house and having a over-crowded house is the norm and I love it. Eric on the other hand is still getting used to a consistent rallying of babies running around, food heating up the kitchen, and family talking over music and TV.

Ps. I already have an American Horror Story Party planned for the beginning of October and if you need a baby shower, I have planned/hosted four successful showers in the past two years. I am pretty well-rounded when it comes to gathering a group of people for a good time. Our house warm party started like any other event with a Facebook invite to our closest friends and family for food, drinks, and fun! How else do you throw a party! The party was a hit, the food was on point, and we had so much fun. We truly appreciated the warmth given to our little apartment.

My Studio Space.
Having a space for my work is so important to me, I need room for my sewing machine, mac, tools, fabric, paint, brushes, etc. (whatever else I have collected from 4 years of Art School hoarding). I can't wait to start designing again and I believe space is key. I am truly inspired by my surroundings.

Mikah, my baby niece loves playing in the drawers of my cabinets ...and the shower!

The best gift from the party! "Given enough coffee, I could rule the world" That sounds about right.

Seriously so many cabinets!
Our apartment also has a comfortable size bedroom, living room, and bathroom that aren't shown but you can imagine how cute based on the other photos. One downsize is the CLOSET SPACE! When we both have retail issues (Eric may have it worst hehe!) it's hard to fit both our wardrobes in one room even. So look forward to an online closet sale coming soon! Eric is having a little trouble letting go or decluttering his shirt, hat and shoe collections though.

I did do most of the cooking and here is the fruit pizza I made from the party, due to high fruit prices I went with blueberries, mandarin oranges, bananas, and pineapples. Yum! Here is the recipe I used: Jen's Fruit Pizza and added a few of my own ideas. It was simply amazing and may have been enough to compete with my mom's veggie pizza. MMM!

The evening ended with a delightful swarm of honey bee's crashing our beautiful party. I guess we are also neighbors with  Beekeepers (thankfully they didn't bite and they did eventually go home once the cool night's breeze came). Other than that, I can honestly say I am so excited for our new memories in Apartment 3 and we are already off to a great start. We are looking forward to recent job interviews (hopefully leading to a job for me), traveling, an exciting business startup, and growing into the our little space.
