Fresh Beginnings

Sitting at my newly borrowed table from my boyfriend's mom (also happens to be our next door neighbor) with no coffee! I am a coffee fanatic too, but because there happened to be mold from leftover grounds when I packed up and moved from Ann Arbor, I am left with my mac and a bowl of Avocados staring at me. Whoops!

After moving from my beautiful self-made studio in the lively city of AA, I am now back in my small town Baraga located in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan. Yes, the upper half of the state. I am blessed with Lake Superior a block away and a new small one bedroom apartment where I hope to create new beginnings. Technically residing in L'Anse, but that all doesn't matter. (Stay tuned for pictures of our little nest!)

My refreshing start is a little bitter sweet without my cup of joe, but this morning has been nothing but, inspirational. Going throughout my usual routine of waking my boyfriend, man, lover, etc up (I don't have a concrete name solidified yet!) and making sure he hears the 7 alarms that go off on the side of us. Welp! We are in our twenties and struggle to get out of bed is real. After my hunnie is off to work and it's 7 AM and the morning light is starting to seep into our room, I lay in bed for an HOUR OR SOOO on my phone creeeepin'. Basically that means wandering the web: exploring anything/everything from the world of Instagram to my morning Cosmo Snapchat. The two of my most favorite social platform friends at the moment.

This morning was interesting, like the stars were aligning and the planets accepted pluto! I was receiving astronomical cues that today was the day! Well maybe the universe wasn't telling me to start my business today, but I do believe the world works in a funny way.

Morning Inspiration (THE SET OFF):

Picture
Moose Moore has something to stay & most of it I agree with!
I scroll past images and terrible videos on the daily, but this one happened to stick out the quote that went with it was motivating and I'm not going to lie the movie "Straight Outta Compton" was on point as well. I feel directly linked to the passion that comes from having your own stamp on things. I want a brand that encompasses me. I want to build an empire. I would like to one day be able to grant my own kids with that privilege.

Picture
Aw microfashion at its finest, I will have a little gem like this one day!
Which then lead to... B. Yellowtail's Instagram. I don't know how it happens, but yes I went from Compton to Indigenous Fashionista. I love her work and can scroll her feed for days. Her page lead to me to countless other Native people doing big things! Their network all seeming to be one, like a family of famous natives.

Then it all clicked! 8.25.15.

I am excited to start, to share my cultural lens that shapes the way I see. I want to share my style, my newfound presence, and my take of what it is like to live as a woman on a small reservation in Baraga, MI. What it is like to live in two worlds. One is my backyard and one is where my education has taken me. Both are very different from each other.  Trying to merge how I grew up and where I have been is the main goal.

I can't wait to share my knowledge, gifts, and artistry. Now I seriously need a coffee, looks like I am going next door to my boyfriend's moms!

Look forward to more posts & tell me what you think.
*Secret* My first Jewelry Collection willing be coming in the near future!
