Exciting News, Updates and Other Things

It is already mid-February, someone pinch me!

I can't believe how the time is flying by. Keeping busy is definitely the cause of the time passing by quickly and I am excited to share what I have been up to in my little studio/deep couch sitting/desk and lamp. First things first, I apologize for not writing sooner or consistently. I plan to catch up and always let you know whats poppin' on my little rez, in my little town, and in my little apartment. Wow! That is a lot of little places and I am starting to feel it, but I have big ideas, new thoughts, and more work.

Enough about my little spaces, I have big news and if you haven't heard yet keep on reading! I have a few new things to share. I should go in chronological order. So lean in, grab a coffee, and listen closely because," this is like totally news worthy and the absolute need to know information!" Eee!

It all started when I hit up an old friend! I met this friend my sophomore year of  college when we teamed up for a first ever indigenous Fashion Show at theU of M Powwow representing/bringing awareness to native made work and promoting buying native. This collaboration gave me an empowering insight to my future and I knew I wanted to work alongside Jessica Metcalfe again! She runs a fashion blog and boutique, Beyond Buckskin, representing contemporary Indian Country artists. She is giving native peoples a platform to voice their culture, work and skills. If you haven't heard, know you now! Check out what Jessica is accomplishing and follow her amazing work too at Beyond Buckskin.

Beginning of January- Once I felt established enough and ready to venture out, I hit Jessica up and with open arms she added me to her "Buy Native List". Being on this list with other amazing artist was incredible and offered the start I needed to be noticed by a new upcoming actress!

January 21st- Lily Gladstone supported the Glam Fan Quill earrings at Sundance!!! I am so proud of Lily and her breakout role in the new movie Certain Women! She plays a rancher opposite of Kristen Stewart. I am in love with the reviews and can't wait to see the movie!

January 21st- More photos from Sundance and I must say my Sweep of Essence Shell earrings look great with B. Yellowtail's (@byellowtail) Miss Apsaalooke wrap dress! Thanks again for representing at Sundance @lilygladstone! Certain Women will now premiere in theaters March 11, 2016!!
January 24th- YOU CAN OFFICIALLY PURCHASE MY WORK ATBEYOND BUCKSKIN!!! My work is listed along side other Native American artists and designers from across the United States and Canada.

January 26th- Started a super secret project and I can't wait to share and tell you all about it once it is complete!

Shh! Stay tuned.
Beginning of February- Studio Space is coming together nicely and I got an amazing new camera lens. I now feel like I know how to use my nikon! Phew!

Late night studio sessions (the only time I get to work).
February 13th- I hosted my first ever Galentine's Day. Ladies celebrating ladies!
*And yes I love Parks and Rec.

Shout out to family always being my number one supporters. Ginger is rocking the Large Sphere Quills!
February 15th- Received an incredible job offer and I am officially starting February 22nd. Starting a new job, a full-time one at that, is a little nerv-racking for me! I am used to part-time work here and there and I appreciate getting to something different every day. I love the freedom and flexible of part-time gigs. I think that is the wanderer in me. Well wish me luck!

February 18th- Had to say "see you later" to my preschoolers who came into the library twice a week. We planted flowers and read the Little Red Hen today. I know they will take good care of their little seeds.

February 19th- My last day in the library. I am really going to miss the atmosphere and being surrounded by constant inspiration and tangible knowledge. I loved my job, the people, and the collections.  I will be so sad to leave it, but I know new challenges await. I know I will be visiting often (and I will still be teaching, so they can't get rid of me that easy).

My two favorite things! I pretty sure I was Jane Schoolcraft in a past life, expect for the drug addiction and lousy husband. I mean we have the coolest Native Names (Bamewawagezhikaquay and Misianaquadikwe), plus were both Yoopers!
That was a lot of catching up! Thank you for listening and reading. I am excited for what is to come next, so be sure to follow along.

Until next time, Baamaapii!
